A NAGGING STORY ABOUT THE FUTURE
THE BEGINNING OF A STORY
Like any other story that goes through a transformation, 'X' is no different. It started off as a shortstory but soon I felt that it was more than that, so I started writing a book!
But... I was young and it didn't take long before I was stuck in my own story, lost in all the plotlines and twists. After some time of doing nothing with my concept, I ended up writing a script for a shortfilm. Find out more below!
THE SHORTSTORY
I found the concept of cryonism fascinating, 'a way to cheat death', so I started writing a discussion about it between two scientists, where I looked for the fine line between philosophy and science. How far can we go in our search for eternal life, and when does longing become obsession and greed?
THE BOOK
What was once a shortstory eventually came up in a conversation with one of my best friends. We talked about it for hours on end, about all the plotlines it could have. There was so much room for exploration and interpretation and I jumped at the opportunity to write a dramatic book about it.The story was simple but yet so full of wonder; what would happen if cryonism wasn't a complete success? What if the human spirit doesn't want the experiment to work?
As I said before, the book never really worked (even though I wrote more than 100 pages), but you can read the first chapter here! Do mind you, it is in Dutch.
THE SCRIPT
For a long time the story was catching dust, but I couldn't ignore my longing to do something with it. In the meantime I had wrote some scripts, so I made an adaptation of my (unfinished) book.
I tried to keep the psychological interest, but to also attract some action to the story. You can read the script down here, but do mind you that I wrote it in Dutch and before my studies...
